A miniature bone chess set and board, Swiss, 19th century
one side stained red, the other side left natural, the chessmen with balustered ribbed ruffs, knights as horses’ heads over ruffs, rooks as raised turrets with brickwork, together with the original board/box, with black and white chess squares, and fretwork decorated panels, the interior lined with brown plush, the king 6.3cm high, the pawn 2.9cm high, the board 15.4cm wide.
