Jaques “Yellow Label” Chess Set, 1856-9
A Jaques Staunton weighted boxwood and ebony chess set, circa 1856-9, the white king stamped JAQUES LONDON on the rim of the base, one black rook with red crown, one white rook with red crown, one black knight with red crown, one white knight with red crown, the king 11.1cm (approx.4 ½ inches) high, the pawn 5.4cm (approx. 2 ¼ inches) high, in a wooden mahogany box with a brass roundel to the lid and yellow label: JAQUES LONDON, 23cm wide.
