Attractive Chinese mahjong set from the era of the 1920’s mahjong craze. It would have been made in the Shanghai area for export to Great Britain and the United States. The dark yellow or ‘butterscotch’ tiles in this set are made from an early plastic, similar to celluloid or catalin.

The set is complete, and ready for play.
