A Victorian Jaques boxwood Staunton set in a relatively scarce “Chess, Sutton Coldfield” oak box from the 1930’s. “Chess” was based in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham. Chess sets and timers were in production from the 1920’s until the Second World War period, and were used for local and regional chess tournaments. 

Some of the baizes are missing, and there are some near repairs and minor damage on this otherwise sound Jaques set. Might make a good project for a Jaques collector. Further photographs available on request. Please ask.
