naive-family-group-portrait-circa-1790

A charming family group in the naive style, from the last years of the eighteenth century. The boys (and father) on the right are holding various things representative of their trades. So from right to left: Father, coachmen, glovier, gunsmith, tailor, scholar. The girls (and wife) on the left are holding symbolic flowers.

The painting has been fitted into a sympathetic period frame with nicely rippled period glass.
