Charming presentation photograph signed by HRH Edward, Prince of Wales, later HM King Edward VIII (1894-1972). in 1936, Edward abdicated the throne to marry the American divorcée, Mrs Simpson. This photograph was taken aboard HMS Renown during the Prince’s world tour (United States, Canada, Newfoundland, 1919, and Australia and New Zealand, 1920). The prince is wearing the uniform of a Captain of the Royal Navy and stands on the deck, with a view of a harbour behind him.
The cream coloured card mount bears the gilt-embossed device of the Prince of Wales’s feathers and has been fitted inside an unusual Edwardian silver hexagonal frame in the Arts and Crafts style.
