Elegant example of an antique German selenus set. Made from bone with a surface polish, one side is stained a nut brown, the other side is in faded pink or red. Comes with an 18th century board of quality: chess on the outside, backgammon on the inside. Nicely inlaid in several different woods. The lock has been replaced and a velveteen lined wooden ‘lift out tray’ has been constructed which fits snugly inside- very useful to keep the chess pieces inside. Recommended.
