A charming antique elephant table model of large size. Typical of Rajasthan, he’s carved from wood and then painted and lacquered. There is a driver- or mahout- sitting on top, which slots into the top section. Very likely to date from the mid 19th century, as it’s similar in style to the painted ivory chess sets produced in Rajasthan for the East India Company.
