Lovely Jaques ivory chess set in the rare- and desirable- "Trolley Car" box. This box is lined in strawberry pink silk and has gilt tooling to the inside of the lid. The famous old firm of Jaques were makers of high quality chess sets and their antique sets are now highly collectable and much sought after. The carved horses' heads on the knights were based on the Elgin marbles.
