A good example of a German chess set from the Beidermeier period. One side is in a polished boxwood, the other side is in a darker polished wood, possibly rosewood. The set comes with a nice patina. Sold with a lovely antique German board/box from the same period: the box folds out to become a chess board, inlaid with ebony and ivory squares (each square 5cm wide).
