A magnificent and scarce early 19th century Cantonese puzzle-ball set of excellent quality, large size and height. Original red stain in cochineal. The white king depicts George III of England, the white queen his consort, Queen Charlotte. The red king and queen are depicted as the Chinese Emperor and his Empress. This is an especially good example of the rarer 'large-size' Canton Export figural chess sets.
