Splendid example of an antique Indian chess set, exported to Britain by the British East India Company in the early/mid 19th century. The dark side is carved from horn.
The set comes with a matching folding ivory, horn and sandalwood board of the same period. The board is especially attractive as it has borders decorated with the Greek Key Pattern- a very typical motif of the early 19th century. Recommended.
