antique-staunton-ivory-chess-set-late-19th-century
Share
A handsome ivory turned chess set, based on the famous "Staunton" pattern first designed in 1849. The red side is stained with cochineal dye, made from crushed beetles.
Works rather well with the late 19th century folding leather chess board, which is shown in the photograph, but is being sold separately. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
