A Four-and-a-Half inch Staunton pattern weighted chess set of fine quality. Unknown maker, but the knights are carved in very much the same style and quality as Jaques. I would date the set to the 1880s. Lovely ‘toffee’ patination and colour. Repair to one pawn collar and one rook castellation. The green baizes on the underside of the chess set has been re-lined, as as the green baize interior of the box. Comes with key.
