Nice example of a Chinese Export Mahjong set, made in a workshop in the Shanghai area during the 1920s. Local boys were employed to paint the bone and bamboo tiles. This set features bat motifs on the front panel. In China, the bat represents happiness, joy, wealth and prosperity.
