A smaller variation on the so-called “Pepys” pattern, similar in style to the chess set once belonging to the Pepys family, and presented to the London Museum.  These sets were made in Indian in the first half of the 19th century for export to Great Britain. The green stain is typical of Indian chess sets of this period.
