Handsome leather chess board dating from the 1920s or so. Boards in the shape of antiquarian books were popular in the first years of the 20th century. Nice example of a decent size. In a "well above average" condition for its type. These boards are more normally discovered in a distressed condition. Chess squares 4.3cm wide.
