Scarce wartime austerity set from Jaques. The black side was made from an ‘ebonised’ boxwood and the shape of the chessmen was altered to some degree. This set is in immaculate condition and sports a green label in a near mint, or even mint condition. I doubt this set has been played with. A rare find from a major British Chess Collection.
