the hinged mahogany board/box for chess and backgammon, the exterior with alternate chess squares in rosewood and sycamore, the interior for backgammon with inlaid points in ebony and boxwood, the lift-out fitted wooden tray including:

- A good English ivory chess set, circa 1870, stained red and left natural

- 2 turned boxwood shakers

- 2 Bezique Scorers

- A pack of 'Congress 606' Playing Cards, by the US Playing Card Co. of Cincinnati

- 6 19th century ivory die

- 4 ivory Whist counter sets, (two monogrammed), circa 1870

- 30 19th century turned ivory backgammon counters, (15 stained red, 15 left natural)

 

King: 6.9cm high

Pawn: 3.4cm high

Backgammon Counters: 2.5cm diameter

Board/Box: 38 x 33 x 4cm (when open flat)
