complete and in working condition, including six painted cast-lead racehorses (yellow, blue, pink, green, brown and white), rolled waxed-cloth racing track, detachable winding handle, clamps and hooks, with a wooden case (with hinged lid and brass clasp), with Chad Valley retailer’s label bearing the Royal Coat of Arms: ‘By appointment... Toymakers to H. M. The Queen, Chad Valley... Escalado... Made in England’.
The cloth board is unrolled and the horses placed on the track. The track is then attached to a mechanism within the box. Winding the (detachable) handles vibrates the track, moving the horses towards the winning post.
