one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings and queen with elaborately carved crowns and bobbles, kings with crosses, queens with Fleur de Lys, bishops with open mitres, knights as carved horse’s heads, rooks as turrets with large flags, pawns with ball finials
King: 8.7cm high
Pawn: 4.1cm high.

A Note From Luke
This rare pattern is named after the Victorian ivory turner, Charles Hastilow. Characteristically, the kings and queens have beautifully carved crowns, and the queen is surmounted with a Fleur de Lys. The rooks have extra large flags.
