one side stained black, the other side left natural, kings surmounted with crosses, queens with crowns,, bishops with mitres, knights as carved horse's heads, rooks as castles, pawns with ball finials, in a simulated black 'crocodile' or 'lizard' hinged presentation case, with gilt-metal clasps, the case interior lined with apricot silk, further retailer's label to the top left: Ernst Lauprecht, Berlin W8- Berlin SW 68...Leipzigeszstr. 93...Freidrichastr. 238
