old-english-ebony-chess-set-19th-century

‘Very Good’ to ‘Near Excellent’. Very minor chipping to black rook battlements and the usual very minor surface scuffs and ingrained surface dirt. An attractive set in a desirable pattern, good examples of which are becoming increasingly hard to find.

Mahogany box has an inset rectangular repair to the top (probably replacing  brass panel) and again, a replaced escutcheon plate. The green paper lining is original and often found in 19th century boxes. Some scuffs and staining.

Recommended.
