Lovely example of a scarce Rajasthan figural set in an original condition. The ivory is painted and then lacquered, and surface condtion is generally ‘very good’ to ‘near excellent’, with a few minor scuffs, chips and knocks, as to be expected. The original varnish is in an excellent condition, with a nice, shiny lustre.
Green king missing a gilt ‘bobble’, two green pawns missing swords or flags, white king missing ‘two ‘bobbles’ and front strut, white queen missing three ‘bobbles’ and front strut, four white pawns missing spears or flags.
Christie’s lot label to the underside of the bases.
