The chess set is complete and generally in an excellent condition. The cochineal red dye stain is dark red and very slightly uneven in places. There is a very faint old crack to the base of the white queen. There is a tiny old hairline crack to the top of the white king and to the base. The Cartonpierre box is in a very good to excellent condition. The lid of the box is separate, and there is slight chipping to the top edge of the box. The red paper lining to the base is slightly rubbed, and the red label has a slight (but neat) loss to two edges. The lid has wear to an edge. Otherwise very good to excellent.
