one side stained red, the other side left natural, white king as George III, white queen as Charlotte, white bishops as Christian clerics, red king as the Chinese Emperor Chi'en Lung, red queen as the Chinese Empress, red bishops as mandarins, knights as horsemen, rooks as elephants bearing flags, pawns as footsoliders
