A Victorian Leather Games Board/Box
A "History of England" leather-bound board/box for chess and backgammon, circa 1890, resembling a leather-bound gilt-tooled and paper lined antiquarian book, the exterior for chess (the alternate squares in dark green and tan with gilt-edged tooling), the interior for backgammon, with the points in red and gilt, inscribed on the spine: "HIST. OF ENGLAND...VOL I...VOL II", 51cm (20 inches) wide (when open), 44.5cm (17 ½ inches) high, 8.5cm (3 ½ inches) deep (when closed).
