Generally “Very Good” , two white pawn collars have been restored to a high standard, A few ‘natural’ flaws to the wood, and a hairline age crack to the black king, otherwise excellent. Both kings stamped JAQUES LONDON in red.
Minor scuffs to the green label, and a few scuff marks and minor flaws to the box. The hinges on the box are period replacements. Sold with the original key.
A Note From Luke
Classic example of a weighted late 19th century chess set by the famous old London firm of Jaques, this one with the larger 4 inch king. There has been some light restoration to two pawns (completed to a professional standard) and the hinges are sympathetic period replacements.
The perfect antique set for a serious chess player. Ready to go.
