An interesting German bone 'selenus' chess set, circa 1830

one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings with double pierced galleries, queens with single pierced galleries, bishops with upturned mushroom knops and 'punchbag' finials, knights as horses' heads, rooks as raised turrets with Islamic crescent moons, pawns with upturned 'cogged' mushroom knops, the king 10.9cm high, the pawn 4.5cm high.
