An Anglo-Indian Export Ivory & Horn Chess Set, Vizagapatam, circa 1830
one side in ivory, the other side in horn, kings with lotus petal decoration and surmounted with floral crosses, quens with pierced crowns, bishops as mitres, knights as arched horses heads, rooks as turrets with brickwork and pierced decoration, pawns with stepped lotus leaf bases, together with a Vizagapatam ivory and sandalwood folding chess board, the alternate chess squares in horn and ivory, with a penwork decorated border in the Greek Key pattern, circa 1830 (2)
