Interesting Victorian Jaques travelling chess set. The attractive wooden counters are for backgammon and chess, and fit snugly inside a rolled up leather board. Two leather shakers fit on either end and act, at the same time, as 'end stops'.
Lovely design, and now quite scarce. B. C. D. stands for 'Backgammon- Chess- Draughts', and the three games are ingeniously incorporated into the red leather tube. The B. C. D. set was first patented by Jaques in 1859.
