Antique Biedermeier 'Spindle' Chess Set
An Antique Biedermeier "Spindle" Bone Chess Set, German, 19th century
one side stained black, the other side left natural, kings and queens with multi balusters and feathered finials, bishops of smaller size with tear-drop feathered finials, knights as horses' heads, rooks as bullet or dome shamed turrets, paawns with baluster knops and tear-drop finials, all the chessmen on turned circular bases, in a small antique pine box (no lid). Complete.

A few very minor hairline cracks, bone stratifications visible, some minor surface dirt. Otherwise 'Very Good'.
Small chip to finial on black king, nice shiny black patina, one bishop with chip to finial, otherwise 'Very Good'.
Original antique pine box of small size, sliding lid missing, a few very minor scuffs.
A Note From Luke
Charming German 'spindle' chess set from the early to mid 19th century. As it's made from bovine bone (rather than elephant ivory) it can be exported to the United States.
