A very similar- if simpler- design to the Coalport Order of the Garter dinner service circa 1845-50, again, supplied by Nixon & Son of Windsor. Presumably, a later variation on the same pattern.
Individual Garter plates were decommissioned and given to royal staff as a reward for loyal service
Condition
‘Very Good’. Some minor wear and rubbing to the edges (with traces of gilt) plus a miniscule chip to the edge on the reverse side. Please feel free to contact me if you require further photographs.
A Note From Luke
A very similar- if simpler- design to the Coalport Garter dinner service circa 1845-50, again, supplied by Nixon & Son of Windsor. Presumably, a later variation on the same pattern.
My understanding is that individual Garter plates were decommissioned and given to royal staff as a reward for loyal service
