Excellent. Very minor age scuffs and with a nice shiny patina. All 32 chess pieces are complete. Beautifully made and genuinely scarce. Recommended.
A Note From Luke
Genuinely rare travel set from 1878. Beautifully designed and surprisingly modern. The reservation section lids slide off and can be stored neatly away in a specially created space.
The de la Rue company was founded by Thomas de la Rue in 1821 and operated initially as a printer and stationer and from 1831, a manufacturer of playing cards. This scarce set is illustrated in the excellent Schach Partie Durch Zeiten und Welte, published in 2005.
