Large Antique “Edinburgh Upright” Chess Set
A good “Edinburgh Upright” pattern chess set of large size, mid 19th century
one side in boxwood, the other side in ebony, knights as horses’ heads with flared nostrils and manes, the king 10.4cm high, the pawn 5cm high, in a rosewood box with inset mother o’ pearl cartouche and mother o’ pearl escutcheon plate, 22.4cm wide.
