Turned English Chess Set, 18th century
An early “Old English Pattern’ boxwood and ebony chess set, 18th century
kings surmounted with spiked crowns, queens with small ball finials, bishops with squat mitres knights as carved horses’ heads, rooks as reeded turrets, pawns with ball finials, the king 7.1cm high, the pawn 4cm high.

“Very Good”. Minor chip to black queen rim, minor dent to white rook. One black pawn probably an 18th century period replacement.
