An Unusual English Ivory Chess Set, circa 1800
one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings with pierced domed tops and surmounted with ball finials, queens with multi baluster knops and reeded ball finials, bishops with gadrooned split mitres, knights as arched horses’ heads with reins, rooks as slanting turrets with battlements
King: 12.3cm high
