A German Ivory “Medieval” Figural Chess Set, Erbach, circa 1925
one side with a very light brown (faded) stain, the other side left natural, kings as monarchs in Medieval robes with crowns studded with semi-precious stones, queens as consorts, bishops as knights with shields, knights as rearing horse, rooks as stone turrets, pawns as kneeling pages with shields, green felt bases to the undersides
