the exterior for chess and nine men morris, the interior for backgammon or tric-trac inlaid with ebony and satin-birch points and burrwood inlay, mounted with a brass plate and ‘locking’ clasp, with a hanging ring to the side

‘Very Good’. Minor scratches, blemishes, surface wear and minor age-cracks. Original brass mounts. Nice patina.

A good 18th century inlaid games box for backgammon (or trick-trac), chess and nine men morris. Features original brass self-locking clasp and hook. Boards such as these were hung up on the wall.
