A Good “Selenus Pattern” Bone Chess Set, German, Late 18th Century

one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings with double galleries and spires in the alternate colour, queens similar, but of smaller size, bishops with cogged central collars and spires in the alternate colour, knights as horses’ heads, rooks as raised turrets with Islamic crescent moons in the alternate colour, pawns with multi knopped columns, in the original pine box with a sliding lid

King: 10cm high

Pawn: 4.1cm high

Box: 14cm wide
