in the form of a leather bound antiquarian book, with gilt-tooled spine, and marbled end papers, the exterior for chess, alternate squares in red and black, the interior for backgammon with red and gilt points against a dark green ground with red panels and attractive gilt-tooled decoration, together with a set of 30 Asser & Sherwin ebony and boxwood backgammon counters, circa 1860-1880, in a wooden box with a sliding lid stamped: Asser & Sherwin...Makers...Strand....London, and a red leather and gilt shaker and die
