Half baize missing on King and denting to exposed lead weight, one pawn missing baize, one further pawn baize severely rubbed. Nice shiny patina.
King, rook, bishop and pawn all lacking baizes.
Good. Loss to corner of green label, tear and a few dents to label.
A Note From Luke
Good example of a mid/late 19th century Jaques three-and-a-half inch boxwood and ebony set. Will need a bit of work- several baizes are currently missing and will need to be replaced.
See Sir Alan Fersht, Jaques and British Chess Company Chess Sets, Kaissa Publications, 2010, page 9 for a similar green label (1862-1880s).
