An English gilt-tooled leather folding games board, circa 1890
in the form of an antiquarian book, the title stamped “History of England”, the exterior for chess, the interior for backgammon with elaborate gilt-tooled decoration, end is marbled paper, 44cm x 37.5cm wide (when open), together with a set of 30 turned backgammon counters in ebony and boxwood (with baize insets), set within a hinged red leather and gilt cylinder, and a red leather and gilt shaker and two bone die.
