Good. Nice patina with gentle ageing. Holes to the side of the elephant, which originally would have held rockets. Further hole to the top which is likely to have held a flag. Otherwise very nice with crisp gilding and paintwork.

Elephant rook from an antique Rajasthan chess set. These sets were made in the first half of the 19th century, and exported to Britain by the East India Company. Painted and lacquered ivory is a typical characteristic of Rajasthan artifacts.
