A collection of six rare 18th century Russian Export Kholomogory walrus ivory chessmen
(four with pen-work decorated octagonal bases showing birds and flowers), a King seated on a chair and holding a dagger, a Queen seated on a chair and holding a fan, an elephant Bishop, a Knight depicted as a rearing horseman, a Rook depicted as a dolphin, whale or sea-monster bearing a galleon or wooden ship on its tail, and a pawn depicted as a cloaked soldier or courtier holding a dagger (six pieces in total), the king 8.3cm high, the queen 8.2cm high, the bishop 3.6cm high, the knight 5cm high, the rook 4.8cm high and the pawn 5.4cm high.
