Jaques Staunton “Club Size” Chess Set, 1920-25
A weighted boxwood and ebony Staunton chess set by Jaques, circa 1920-25, both kings stamped JAQUES LONDON in red on the rim of the bases, one black knight and one white knight stamped with red crown, one black rook and one white rook stamped with red crown, the king 4 3/8 inches (11cm) high, the pawn 6.2cm high in a mahogany box with a green label: GENUINE STAUNTON CHESSMEN...J. JAQUES & SON LTD., LONDON, ENGLAND, with key and tassel.
