A German silver-plated chess set by the Wurtembergische Metallwarenfabrik, Geislingen, 1896
one side in gilt, kings and queens with crowns, knights as horses’ heads, rooks as turrets, pawns surmounted with ball finials, the king 6.5cm high, the pawn 3.9cm high, maker’s mark to the underside of the base, in the original cardboard open presentation box, 31cm wide.
